‘The Garden’ is produced by Sam Hardaker and Henry Binns and mixed by Phill Brown. It features vocal performances by Jose Gonzalez, Sia Furler and Henry Binns, and sees Zero 7 take a new, more upbeat musical direction. Once pegged as electronica or acid-jazz, Zero 7 broadens its horizons with The Garden. Partly responsible for ‘sultrifying’ their sound is their newest vocalist — Scandinavian singer-songwriter and guitarist, Jose Gonzalez. With his own critically adorned album, Veneer in the UK top ten, he adds folk-inspired melodies to The Garden while harmonizing beautifully with Zero’s veteran, Sia Furler.

I discovered Zero 7 with their mix Another Late Night: Zero 7.
Another Late Night: Zero 7 is a DJ mix album, mixed by Zero 7. It is the fourth in the Another Late Night / Late Night Tales series from Azuli Records. It was released on 18th February 2002 on Azuli Records in the UK (catalogue no. ALNCD04) and on Kinetic Records in the USA (catalogue no. 67728-54705-2).

This mix (and the others in the serie) is just brilliant. I fell in love with the song Witness (Walworth Rd Rockers Dub) by Roots Manuva which is very special. I am not into hip hop but I enjoyed the urban/hip hop feeling in this mix. Great sound.

The Garden is very downtempo and melodic. While some people say that Zero 7 is like the french band Air, I prefer the wide range of influences in Zero 7 tracks. Lovely album.
